Sorry
It is interesting that the Ashekanazim follow the Beit Yosef but throughout Halacha there many cases like that. I once learned an Halacha where the Ashkenazim follow the Magen Avraham (sephardi) and the Sephardim follow the Taz (ashkenazi).

YKYKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10778564250634479028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3293749640163975885.post-20555145593759477092011-12-15T08:39:19.068+01:002011-12-15T08:39:19.068+01:00Don't mean to b annoying but if you read my co...Don't mean to b annoying but if you read my comment carefully, I said the Beit Yosef is the basis of Ashkenazi ksav, not Ari. He just had a few minor changes.

And remember that his mother was Ashkenazi and his father was Sephardi, which can explain the impact he had in both communities.

YKYKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10778564250634479028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3293749640163975885.post-84188777563278115652011-12-14T11:26:51.750+01:002011-12-14T11:26:51.750+01:00It is interesting that the Biet Yosef was a Sephar...It is interesting that the Biet Yosef was a Sepharadi and he has the basis for the Ashkenazi ksav. What is the deal with that? I think I read once that he just copied someone elses kontros in the Beis Yosef, but i dont remember who or where i read that.OneDayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04776978195297945551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3293749640163975885.post-11779459346843888802011-09-03T22:58:49.055+02:002011-09-03T22:58:49.055+02:00Moishe,

That said, my favorite books are Torah Shelema (special section on Safrut; strictly academic but invaluable), Ot Yatziv (new book from Zanz - practical and very well written).

YKYKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10778564250634479028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3293749640163975885.post-11231556125147686532011-07-25T17:51:28.192+02:002011-07-25T17:51:28.192+02:00Hey YK,
